Description

Description

Weighs approx 47 grams & is 22.9 cms long and is Fiddle pattern. The hallmarking looks English & the style of the Lion Passant with its head turned and not looking straight ahead was used in the early 1800s, also what appears to be a Georgian Kings head facing right but no city hallmark, possibly London or Sheffield. But in saying all that some early American hallmarks resembled that of the English. The name S D Smith is a mystery, whether he was an American retailer, jeweller, importer, I have no idea. The spoon was purchased from America. Some dents to the scoop, initials engraved to the handle as per photo.
