A very detailed account by an unknown male accompanied by “Ma & Jeanne”. The first entry of the journey appears to be 1st June 1885, however an earlier entry date of 1883 is noted at the rear. Dairy starts with “Left Glasgow at 10.30am” & ends with “Landed at Maryborough (QLD, Australia) on Saturday evening August 8th 1885 at 7pm”. There are 76 pages of written entry about the voyage + numerous other entries, subject matters to the rear. Right throughout the diary, Latitude & Longitude coordinates are noted also occasionally Knots & Miles. Its quite possible that the person worked for passage on a number of voyagers as an Iron or Metal worker, see rear of dairy as it mentions “In proceeding to America via Liverpool” it also states “Wages received” & “Propeller Blades”. Other fascinating notes include the population of Brisbane of 31,109 !! The diary is in the form of a pocket note book, with several loose pages, but appears to be complete with stains, marks & foxing. Would make fascinating research !!
