This real photo postcard is fascinating. It's not the 1st class Australian Cricket team, but it appears the the older gentleman in the centre is a team manager, so possibly an organised tour. We have checked the voyage schedule of the SS Persic, noting it left Liverpool of the 26/7/1911 & arrived at The Semaphore, South Australia on the 4/9/1911. This postcard is dated October 1911, so looks like a return voyage to Liverpool. But coming into the Winter months in the UK. A possibility is that the team was headed to South Africa, as the ship would have docked in Capetown on the return voyage. Any way, its all speculation. Its a nice piece of Cricket memorabilia !!
