Description

This beautiful antique sterling silver bookmark dates to 1887 and was made by the company J. Cook & Sons, hallmarks from Birmingham, UK.  The handle is highly decorative with two green coloured Connemara Marble stone inlaid shamrocks and stunning engraving details.  Connemara marble is very rare and only found in Connemara Ireland.  It is a lucky stone and is often used in Irish good luck jewellery, it is approximately 900 million years old.  Connemara marble has 'forty shades of green' and is perfect representation of the beautiful landscapes of the Emerald Isles.  This page holder is hallmarked with the makers mark J.C & S for J. Cook & Sons, Lion rampant for silver quality, X for the year 1887 and the anchor stamp for Birmingham.  The piece is in very good condition for its age, one hundred and thirty three years.  Its a lovely antique piece and a great piece to add to your collection.
