Assorted set of animal themed cocktail sticks made in sterling silver, all hallmarked Chester, UK. The cocktail sticks were made by Alfred Wilcox Company, between 1927 - 1929. All stamped with A.W, lion rampant facing left, the Chester stamp (three wheat sheaves and a sword) and various date letters. The dogs have the date letter B for 1927, the two rabbits letter C for 1928, the cockerel and the pheasant both have date letter D for the year 1929. In 1925 the directors of A. Wilcox were Alfred Nathan Matthews and Harry Stanley Matthews. They registered 'A.W' contained within a heraldic shield on the 15th September 1925 at the Chester Assay Office.
The cocktail sticks are well carved and intricate and are in excellent condition for their age. They are presented in a beautiful leather bound storage case with felt and silk inserts, slight wear to one corner, as shown in photo. The case is stunning. The delightful cocktail sticks in the case would make a fabulous gift idea for someone special or, something different, with a touch of style from a bygone era to collect.
