Beautiful Antique Gorham sterling silver shoe / pin cushion made in in the 1930's. This piece was made in Birmingham, UK for American company Gorham and carries the British hallmark of the anchor, a Lion facing to the right and the stamp G for Gorham. Looking at the encyclopaedia of hallmarks the G and the shape around the anchor date the shoe to the 1930's. The markings to the base are very clear. The shoe originally had a pin cushion insert and would have been used by dressmakers for keeping all the little pins in one place. The insert is missing but the actual sterling silver shoe is in great condition for its age. This little decorative shoe is highly collectable and one in such good condition is a real treat.
