Joseph Johnson was a highly respected and very successful master Watch, Clock & Chronometer maker. His watches were commonly used on the USA railroads before the commencement of the USA watch industry. This movement actually came from the States. At a guess the watch dates to the 1840s / 1850s & was more than likely produced by his son Joseph or grandson Joseph. Joseph snr died in 1827. Currently not working, movement is fully wound, won’t wind, balance staff & wheel are ok. Will need either a service or repair to get going and is sold as is. Dial plate is 44.9mm in diameter, movement plate 39mm. Dial in poor condition. For sale is the movement, movement cap & dial, there is no case.
