Very similar to the early Alvey Silky Oak A74 reel, but the line guide is slightly different. It was purchased in Brisbane with numerous other Alvey reels. It’s a possibility that this could be an early unbranded Alvey, buyer will have to draw own conclusion, if it isn’t its more than likely made by James Watson Day of Northgate, Brisbane. He started making reels in the 1930’s, but this looks earlier. The reel is unbranded, also no serial numbers can be found on any part, note that the top of the pivot is made of brass. One handle is missing and a few very tiny knicks & knocks otherwise in superb condition. Line guide turns and locks well, slightly loose, top screw needs tightening. Winds well. RARE !!!!!!
