On offer is an exceedingly rare / museum quality handpainted picture theatre curtain originating from the Jubilee Picture Theatre, Lowood, Queensland. Please visit the following link to read about its history. Very few of these curtains remain in tact within Australia, those still in existence are mainly housed in museums or historical local buildings. Picture Theatre curtains are one of the most sought after pieces of memorabilia from a bygone era.
Painted on canvas, signed and dated 1935 it measures 7.4m x 4.5m. It features numerous local advertisements, to the centre is an image of Lake Como, Italy ( lago di como ) It’s at its stage in life where it needs to be permantly hung to avoid deterioration, its currently folded for ease of storage. The curtain still has very vibrant colouring. The bottom right hand corner has a tear to the edge, not on the main body of the curtain, so its not effecting any adverts. There is some creasing and the odd minor tear, but overall in superb condition considering its age.
Not available to overseas buyer, local pickup welcomed or it will be sent via a freight / courier company at a cost of $250 Australia wide.
