Fantastic large domed signed Schreiner brooch dome in great colors of emerald, purple, lavender. Done in a variety of cut stones inverted and signed to the rear Schreiner new york. Schreiner made jewellery from the mid 1950's - 1970's. What a wondeful find in near untouched condition. Measures 50mm across x 28mm high and has real eye catching appeal. i have left totaly original un cleaned to show how nice this item is. A super collectable item.
Henry Schreiner founded the Shreiner Jewelry Company in 1939. He had been a blacksmith in Bavaria, Germany and emigrated to the U.S. in 1923. He started to work for the Better Buckle Company working with metals designing and fashioning belt buckles, buttons and dress fasteners.
Schreiner then started designing costume jewelry for Trigère, Norell, and Christian Dior in the late 1940s, but he’s best known for the necklaces, pins, and earrings produced by his own firm, founded in 1951. His signature was to invert the position of his kite-shaped rhinestones within the open-prong settings of his pieces. He was also famous for his ruffle brooches, which featured kite-shaped crystals overlapping and radiating from a central, signature gem.
His daughter and her husband joined the firm in 1953 and soon the three of them were creating jewelry for Adele Simpson and Norman Norell,
