Antique Art Nouveau Empire Britania Artistic Silver Hand Mirror/ Brush Set 1904

This stunning antique vanity set comprises of a beautifully decorated Art Nouveau style mirror and accompanying bristle brush. The mirror and brush have the same design of a classic Art Nouveau lady with flowing hair, swirls and flowers creating an intricate backdrop in high relief. They are stamped similarly, the mirror is stamped Empire Art Silver and Pat. May 24 1904, the bristle brush is stamped Britania Artistic Silver and the same Pat. May 24 1904. They would be a lovely compliment to any vintage style dressing table or vanity collector. The term, 'Britania or Empire Artistic Silver' is used to describe a mixed alloy base consisting of pewter, tin, copper and mixed with other metals to create a hard white metal. This is then covered in sterling silver and as can be seen this has really stood the test of time. The overall condition of both the mirror and brush is very good. The mirror is in slightly better condition than the brush, with a little loss on the shoulders and bottom of the lady. Please see photos for a pictorial explanation.
