Description

Super rare and nearly impossible to buy !!! Artist, Engraver & Publisher was Carrington Bowles (1724 - 1793). It depicts the attempted assassination of King George III by Margaret Nicholson at St James Palace on August 2nd, 1786. Her choice of weapon was a bone handle dessert knife. The hand-coloured engraving has been professionally framed, matted & glazed ready to hang. Overall framed size is 49cms x 64cms, the engraving size is 27cms x 42cms. A repair has been done on the lower left hand corner, there is some very minor foxing & marks, otherwise in superb condition. It looks far better than the photos depict. Ignore the white horizontal line on the right, it is light reflection.
