c.1911 Elgin 312 16s 15 Jewel 14K Gold Hunter Pocket Watch- Fancy Pink Dial
A superb and highly attractive circa 1911 Elgin gentleman's full hunter pocket watch, featuring a beautiful fancy decorative dial and housed in a substantial solid 14K gold case.
The watch is powered by an Elgin Grade 312, 16 size, 15 jewel stem wind mechanical movement, signed "Elgin Nat'l Watch Co. U.S.A." and numbered 15221053
The standout feature is the exceptional fancy dial. Finished with a delicate pale pink ground, it features highly stylised black Arabic numerals within pearl style circular surrounds, gold coloured stars and decorative flourishes, ornate gold hands and subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock. A wonderful period design with considerably more character than the standard white enamel dials normally encountered on Elgin pocket watches of this era.
The solid 14K gold full hunter case is equally impressive, displaying very fine engine turned decoration with an elaborate engraved monogram cartouche to the exterior. The inner covers are clearly marked "WARRANTED 14K U.S. ASSAY" together with Elgin National Watch Co markings.
