John Skinner Prout (1805-1876) Prout was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1840 with his wife and children. Shortly after his arrival he became involved in colonial life as a commercial artist, lecturing and publishing his own series of lithographs titled, Sydney Illustrated and Tasmania Illustrated. His works are represented in all major institutional collections.
