On offer is a large 1822 James Heath edition of a William Hogarth (1697 - 1764) original engraving. Heath did the last printing from the original Hogarth plates and minimally restored a small amount of this edition, keeping the integrity of the original plates. An 1822 edition of the much reprinted copper-plate engravings of William Hogarth (1697-1764). The plates depict satirical narratives with strong social and political statements about the London of his time. This edition was printed by Jas. Wade, Tavistock St., Covent Garden, London.
Recently professionally restored, the large engraving has been matted on acid free white board, ready to frame. Overall matted size 600mm x 580mm, engraving 400mm x 340mm. Minor wear & marks to the engravings’outer margin, otherwise very nice condition considering it’s 200 years old.
