The Oléron vase is crafted in cased opalescent glass and features an extraordinary continuous design of overlapping fish in high relief. The densely arranged fish create a highly sculptural surface, with carefully detailed scales, fins and eyes emerging from the softly glowing glass.

When illuminated, the pale blue opalescence becomes particularly striking, highlighting the depth of the moulding and the movement within the design.

Designed in 1927, the vase takes its name from Île d'Oléron, the historic French Atlantic island long associated with fishing and maritime life.
