A fine Scappini Florence pietra dura hardstone mosaic plaque titled "D Cavaliere", depicting a Renaissance style cavalier standing within an architectural interior. Measuring an impressive 26.5 x 18cm, the scene is created entirely from carefully cut and polished sections of coloured marble and hardstone, with richly veined stones used for the architectural columns, tiled floor, costume and background. The figure is finely detailed with plumed hat, sword, yellow doublet and period dress. The plaque is finished with silver corner mounts and a silver title plaque, giving it a higher quality presentation than standard Florentine souvenir examples.
