This stunning glassy black obsidian arrowhead has a bit of age to it and has been set in 14 carat yellow gold to reflect this. Over time the sharpness of the obsidian has given way to a more rounded edge. The pure raven black of the obsidian is so striking against the rich gold pendant bale. The texture of the bale is like a wood grain effect, this cleverly links the piece to its past purpose, being a spear tip and the design is very much reminiscent of this. The actual pendant dates to around the early 1980's but the age of the arrowhead is unknown, it looks to be old, the choice of materials to create the pendant in gold, suggest it is more rare than a modern made arrowhead. It is a bespoke design that has been handcrafted.
Although the piece is not hallmarked or stamped it laser tested as 14 carat yellow gold. Obsidian is an interesting stone and is respected metaphysically, as a stone of protection, known to block negative energies for the wearer. A great piece to adorn yourself with and will look fantastic on a simple gold chain.
