A substantial early International Watch Company Schaffhausen pocket watch housed in a solid 14K gold full hunter case. The watch measures approximately 51.3mm across and weighs approximately 89.7 grams complete.
The white enamel dial is signed International Watch Co. Schaffhausen and features black Arabic numerals, an outer minute track and subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock. Fine period gold tone hands complement the warm colour of the case.
The solid 14K gold hunter case is finely engine turned to both sides. The front cover features an ornate central shield and decorative cartouche, while the rear cover carries matching engine turned decoration. The inner covers retain International Watch Co. Schaffhausen markings together with a period German presentation inscription commemorating 30 years of faithful service.
Opening the rear reveals a large gilt IWC manual wind movement with jewelled bearings, frosted plates, a large balance assembly and contrasting dark finished winding wheels. The movement presents beautifully and shows the quality construction associated with early IWC production.
