Description

The very talented Theodor Fahrner was born in 1859 in Pforzheim, Germany. His father, Theodor Snr. owned a manufacturing company and creativity was definitely in his blood. Theodor trained as a metal work engraver at the Pforzheim Art Academy where he further honed his artistic abilities and developed a lifelong appreciation of Art and Design. His work has since become iconic and in the history of Art Nouveau and Art Deco jewellery, Theodor Fahrner pieces from Pforzheim hold a very special place. Theodore and his later successor Gustav Braendle knew how to create artistic, aesthetically pleasing designs with the high quality wormanship, which would become the hallmark of all their jewellery.

The quality of this brooch and attention to detail really sings out as well as the artistry in the design. The rear of the brooch is signed with TF and the silver contect is slightly higher than sterling silver at .935 and is art deco in style. The brooch is further enhanced with sparkling sapphires, marcasite and red coral buttons. The silver has taken on a darker patina over the years, which is not surprising, considering the age of this piece, circa 1920's. The classic C clasp is still in good condition and working as it should. Theodore Fahrner is highly collectable and this trend is continuing as his work gets rarer and more difficult to find. This will be a great addition to any collection.
