1887 Sterling Silver Mother of Pearl Brooch and Bookmark Adie & Lovekin

A charming Victorian dual purpose sterling silver brooch and bookmark modelled as a miniature garden trowel.

The pierced sprung blade clips neatly over a page for use as a bookmark, while the reverse is fitted with a long hinged pin and retaining catch, allowing the piece to be worn as a brooch.

The trowel is finished with a lustrous mother of pearl handle, engraved silver collars and rounded finial.

Clearly hallmarked for Birmingham with the date letter "n" for 1887 and the maker's mark "A&L" for Adie & Lovekin.

Measures 80mm long and weighs 5.4 grams.

Presented in good antique condition with surface marks, tarnishing and wear consistent with its age. The mother of pearl handle appears intact. Please examine the photographs as they form part of the condition report.
