Ancient Pyu Burma Earthenware Pot / Vessel, c. 5th-9th Century 21cm High

Ancient earthenware storage jar attributed to the Pyu culture of Burma / Myanmar, dating approximately to the 5th-9th century CE. The vessel is of rounded ovoid form with a short flared neck, thick rolled rim and applied loop handles to the shoulder.


The jar is formed from low-fired terracotta clay, with visible horizontal tooling marks around the body and a naturally weathered surface. The upper section displays extensive buff-coloured mineral encrustation and earthen deposits, contrasting with the reddish terracotta lower body. A strong decorative and archaeological object with excellent age character.

Material: low-fired earthenware / terracotta
Condition: ancient surface wear, mineral encrustation, pitting, firing flaws, rim wear, small chips and natural age-related imperfections throughout, one of the hoop handle is missing.
