Antique Lan Na Flower Money Currency Piece Burmese Thai 16th-18th C. 83.7g
Antique 16th Century Southeast Asian cast "flower money" currency piece, traditionally associated with the Lan Na kingdom of Northern Thailand and surrounding Burmese-influenced regions.
The piece is of irregular rounded form and decorated with repeated floral/starburst motifs across the surface. These cast currency pieces are commonly referred to as Lan Na flower money and were used regionally as a form of local trade currency before the widespread adoption of modern coinage.
The surface shows age-related patina, wear, casting irregularities and edge losses, consistent with an old cast monetary object. weight 83.7 grams measures 49.5mm x 48.5mm x 6.4mm.
