BE1144 (C.1782) India Silver 1 Tanka Kingdom of Arakan Maha Thamana UNC Plugged NGC Cert
A scarce late 18th century silver tanka from the Kingdom of Arakan, issued under Maha Thamana and dated BE1144 / 1782.
This example is certified by NGC as UNC Details - Plugged and comes from the Aurora Collection. The coin retains strong burmese script and design detail, with an impressive overall appearance for the type despite the noted plugged detail. Arakan silver tankas are an important and highly collectable series, reflecting the historic trade and cultural links between India, Bengal, Burma and Southeast Asia. Certified examples are especially desirable for collectors seeking authenticated early regional silver coinage.
Part of The Aurora Collection, a large collection currently listing ex USA private estate.
