Chinese Silver Xiao Yuanbao Sycee Ingot Qing Dynasty 58.46g

A Chinese silver yuanbao / sycee ingot of small oval cake form, weighing 58.46 grams. The piece features a shallow concave upper surface with concentric casting lines and an irregular hand-formed rim. The reverse displays heavy casting porosity and cooling cavities, typical of hand-poured ingot-style manufacture.


This form is commonly referred to as xiao yuanbao, meaning a small yuanbao or small sycee-style silver ingot. Sycee and yuanbao ingots were used in China as silver currency and trade bullion, with value traditionally assessed by weight.

Measures measures 36.3mm x 25.8mm x 13.4mm.
