René Lalique Antilopes Vase No.875 Grey Patina c1925 Signed R. Lalique France
an exceptional original René Lalique Antilopes vase, Model No. 875, first introduced in December 1925 during the height of the Art Deco period. One of René Lalique's most striking animal-themed designs, the vase combines sculptural elegance with the innovative glassmaking techniques that established Lalique as one of the world's foremost decorative artists.
The spherical body is decorated with alternating raised circular bosses and beautifully moulded antelope motifs set amongst intricate Art Deco ornamentation. The design creates a remarkable interplay of light and shadow, while the original grey patina highlights the relief work and accentuates the flowing movement of the animals around the body. A gently flared neck completes the balanced proportions of this iconic model.
This example retains its desirable original grey patinated finish and displays the superb moulding quality expected of authentic René Lalique production. The vase is signed R. Lalique France to the underside.
This vase formed part of the "Once in a Lifetime" René Lalique Collection, a carefully assembled collection of 97 important René Lalique glass pieces.
Condition
The vase presents well overall with no obvious chips or cracks visible from the supplied photographs. There is expected age-related wear to the underside, including wear to the original grey patina on the base from decades of display and handling, consistent with an authentic period example. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
