René Lalique Faune Vase No.1062 Blue Patina Frosted Crystal c1931 Signed Art Deco
An exceptional original René Lalique "Faune" vase, model number 1062, designed by René Lalique and introduced on 24 July 1931. This striking Art Deco masterpiece is one of Lalique's most sculptural and sought-after vase designs, featuring a dramatic flared body rising from a beautifully modelled mythological faun's head with finely detailed ram's horns. The model was first introduced in 1931 and appears in René Lalique's catalogues of the period.
This example is executed in clear mould-pressed and hand-finished crystal with an attractive original blue patinated finish highlighting the faun mask. The rich blue patina beautifully accentuates the sculptural detail, creating a striking contrast against the clear crystal body and adding to its decorative appeal.
The elegant body is formed with bold vertical ribs that flare outward from the sculptural base, while the polished octagonal foot completes the strong geometric styling synonymous with the French Art Deco movement. The combination of mythology and refined architectural lines makes the Faune one of René Lalique's most recognisable creations.
The underside bears the original R. Lalique France signature (faintly engraved, as commonly found on authentic period examples).
Condition is very good overall with no obvious chips or cracks observed. The blue patina remains attractive, the frosted detail is crisp, and the vase presents exceptionally well.
