René Lalique Martin-Pêcheurs Vase No.920 Black Glass White Patina c1921 Signed

René Lalique Martin-Pêcheurs (Kingfishers) vase, Model No. 920, first introduced in 1921. One of René Lalique's most celebrated early Art Deco creations, this exceptional design captures graceful kingfishers in flight amongst flowering branches and foliage, showcasing the naturalistic themes that became synonymous with Lalique's work during the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco.

This example is produced in striking black glass with a contrasting white patinated finish, highlighting the intricate relief decoration and adding remarkable depth to the sculptural design. The rounded ovoid form is completely enveloped by beautifully moulded birds, blossoms and leaves, making it visually impressive from every angle. The dramatic combination of glossy black glass and soft white patina is among the most sought-after finishes for this iconic model.

The underside is moulded R. Lalique France, confirming its authenticity as an original René Lalique production.

This vase comes from the renowned Once in a Lifetime René Lalique Collection of 97 Pieces, a significant private collection assembled over many years and comprising some of the finest examples of René Lalique's artistic glass.

Condition

The vase presents beautifully with the white patina remaining attractive and well-defined throughout the relief decoration. It displays wonderfully and is an exceptional collector's piece. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best indication of its overall condition and any signs of age or wear.
