René Lalique Églantines Vase No.954 Opalescent Glass c1921 Signed R. Lalique
An authentic René Lalique Églantines vase, model No. 954, designed in 1921 and produced in beautiful frosted opalescent glass. Inspired by the natural beauty of wild rose (églantine) branches, the vase features an elegant bulbous form encircled by raised intertwining stems and foliage, a design that perfectly captures René Lalique's transition from the flowing lines of Art Nouveau into the emerging Art Deco movement.
The soft opalescent finish creates a subtle glow that changes with the light, while the sculptural relief decoration adds depth and texture from every angle. This example bears a very faintly engraved "R. Lalique" signature to the underside of the base. As is common with some early Lalique pieces, the engraving has softened with age but remains visible upon close inspection.
