René Lalique "Palissy" Vase No. 980 Opalescent Glass c1926 Signed
An exceptional René Lalique "Palissy" vase, Model No. 980, designed in 1926. One of Lalique's most distinctive naturalistic creations, the vase is decorated with an abundance of finely moulded seashells in varying forms, inspired by the celebrated French Renaissance potter Bernard Palissy and his fascination with the natural world. The richly sculptural shell decoration creates a striking interplay of light across the opalescent glass, making this one of René Lalique's most admired marine-inspired designs.
Executed in beautiful opalescent moulded glass, the vase displays excellent mould definition and a soft luminous finish characteristic of Lalique's finest production. The underside is engraved "R. Lalique France."
