Description
René Lalique "Canards" Vase No. 1076 Opalescent Glass c.1927
Designed by René Lalique in 1927, the Canards (Ducks) Vase No. 1076 is one of the designer's most elegant and recognisable Art Deco creations. The body is beautifully moulded with a continuous procession of stylised ducks in flight, their sweeping forms creating a rhythmic pattern around the vase. The gently flared neck and rounded body perfectly complement the flowing design.
This example is executed in Lalique's highly desirable opalescent glass, displaying a beautiful milky blue-green glow that changes dramatically depending on the light. The opalescence highlights every feather and contour, making it one of the finest colourways produced for this model.
The underside is moulded "R. Lalique France."
