Description
René Lalique "Pigeons" Vase No. 939 Blue Patinated Glass c.1924
An exceptional René Lalique "Pigeons" vase, Model No. 939, designed in 1924. One of Lalique's most admired bird studies, the vase features a series of beautifully moulded pigeons perched upon branches, wrapping gracefully around the rounded body. The sculptural relief captures the birds with remarkable realism, showcasing Lalique's mastery of naturalistic design during the height of the Art Deco period.
This example is executed in beautiful blue glass with a soft white patina, highlighting the finely detailed plumage while creating a striking contrast between the frosted relief and translucent blue body. The harmonious combination of colour and texture makes this one of the most desirable presentations of the model.
