René Lalique "Sophora" Vase No. 977 Circa 1926 Red Amber Art Deco Glass
From an important single owner collection of René Lalique glass.
Part of Harrington & Co's "Once in a Lifetime René Lalique Collection of 97 pieces."
Designed by René Lalique in 1926, the Sophora vase (Model No. 977) is one of the most striking expressions of his mature Art Deco vision. Inspired by the flowing forms of the Sophora tree, the sculptural design features deeply moulded stylised foliage that wraps seamlessly around the rounded body, creating an extraordinary interplay of satin frosted and polished surfaces.
This exceptional example is executed in René Lalique's highly desirable red amber glass, the vase displays a warm amber body infused with deep red tones. When illuminated, the glass reveals exceptional depth and luminosity, showcasing the remarkable artistry for which Lalique's coloured production is celebrated.
The underside is engraved R. Lalique France 977, confirming both the maker and the original factory model number. The vase is presented in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
Coloured René Lalique vases were produced in far smaller numbers than their clear and opalescent counterparts, making ruby examples of the Sophora highly sought after by advanced collectors and museums worldwide.
