Description

Authentic René Lalique Archers Cased Butterscotch Glass Vase No. 893 Circa 1921

An exceptional and highly sought after original René Lalique "Archers" vase, introduced in 1921 and regarded as one of the French master's finest Art Deco creations. This impressive cabinet piece features a continuous frieze of powerful nude archers drawing their bows towards soaring birds, all executed in beautifully sculpted high relief. The design perfectly captures Lalique's fascination with movement, mythology and nature, making it one of the most iconic vase models of the early Art Deco period.

Crafted in exquisite cased butterscotch and opalescent glass, the vase displays a rich honey coloured interior beneath a softly frosted exterior, producing a remarkable depth and warmth when illuminated. The moulding is exceptionally crisp, highlighting every feather, muscle and flowing line of the composition.

This example bears the early moulded "R. LALIQUE" signature to the underside, consistent with production from the 1920s.

Condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. Tiny original manufacturing air bubbles are present, with a three naturally opening to the surface. These are original production characteristics associated with early hand blown René Lalique glass and are not damage.

One of the most celebrated designs from René Lalique's early Art Deco period, the Archers vase is considerably scarcer than many of his more familiar vase models and remains highly desirable among serious collectors worldwide.
