Designed by René Lalique in 1929, the Milan vase, Model No. 1025, is one of the master's most elegant botanical creations. Inspired by cascading foliage, the design features deeply moulded overlapping leaves flowing gracefully around the body, demonstrating the sculptural brilliance that made René Lalique one of the defining artists of the Art Deco movement.
This original pre war example stands an impressive 28.5cm high and is finished in frosted glass with its original green stained decoration, beautifully highlighting the depth and detail of the relief. It is engraved "R. Lalique France" to the base, confirming production during René Lalique's lifetime.
Condition is excellent throughout. The vase is free from chips, cracks and restoration and retains its original frosted finish and green staining. There are a few very light age related surface marks to the polished rim together with light shelf wear to the underside of the base, entirely consistent with careful handling over nearly a century. These minor signs of age do not detract from the vase's outstanding presentation.
A superb opportunity to acquire one of René Lalique's most decorative and sought after large botanical vase designs. Pieces of this quality are becoming increasingly difficult to source, particularly in such well preserved original condition.
