René Lalique "Sauterelles" Vase No. 888 Blue Opalescent Glass c.1912 Art Nouveau

An exceptional René Lalique "Sauterelles" (Grasshoppers) vase, Model No. 888, designed in 1912. One of Lalique's most celebrated early Art Nouveau creations, the vase is beautifully moulded with grasshoppers resting amongst sweeping blades of grass, demonstrating the sculptural naturalism and innovative glassmaking that made René Lalique world-renowned.

Executed in a beautiful blue opalescent glass with frosted and polished finishes, the vase displays a striking interplay of light that changes depending on its surroundings, highlighting the finely detailed insect motifs. Standing approximately 27 cm high, the design is regarded as one of the masterpieces of Lalique's pre-Art Deco period and remains one of his most sought-after vase models.
